Masquerade

It’s sparkling oustide

But she waits indoors

Where the snow never comes

And the rain never pours

Where it’s peaceful and quiet

And slow and serene

Where the sounds of the riot

Don’t know where she’s been

(I feel a bit pretentious writing about a photoshoot I’m in, but I hope you like it.)

It’s Snow Problem…

I had so much fun taking these pictures!!! This is what happens when I go in to put makeup on, realize I need to post since it’s Snowy Sunday, and go crazy. I find this look to be part snowflake, part warrior, part David Bowie, and part John Galliano (There was a show where Pat McGrath made the models look like deer… I don’t remember which it was, but it was amazing. Like all her work.)

Anywho, I’m just going to post these pictures now.

Necklace: Forever 21

Earrings, Cameo Pin, and Ring: Sorry, I’m not sure.

Dress: Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse

Shoes: Charlotte Russe

Well….

So plans get changed. Meaning: I was going to post about an awesome male fashion statement I saw in an unlikely place (yes, Disney channel… Who would have thought?). But sadly, even though I’ve already admitted to you that I sometimes watch the Disney Channel  (which is a bit embarrassing in itself), I could not find a picture.

Oh well.

However, I found something better while furiously Google Image searching for the picture I sought. I actually stumbled upon a very cool fashion photoshoot from a very cool blog I’d never heard of. Plus, since it’s Scrooge Saturday I don’t have to correlate this post back to Christmas at all! It would be a difficult task, trust me, being that said photoshoot involves cowboy hats (not something I usually like) and skulls. Don’t worry, I promise it’s not scary. Anyways, I’m going to put the link to the full photoshoot after I share my favorite photo with you.

(This shoot is apparently from Zoo Magazine which I’ve never heard of.)

Isn’t that cool? To me it seems like a mix between a viking, a cowboy, and a Burberry model. Brilliant!

Okay, as promised, here is the link: http://thefashionisto.com/charlie-france-by-dancian-for-zoo-magazine/

Oh, and, because I feel like I should be generous, here is a non-Christmas themed song of the day:

I felt like it went with the whole theme of the post. Sort of. Plus, it’s an undeniably catchy classic. I don’t even fancy country, but I love Johnny Cash.

All I Want (But Will Never Be Able To Afford) For Christmas…

Oh Chanel! Beautiful, flawless, and oh so expensive!

Everyone has a weak point; something they would pretty much sell their own organs to attain. As far as material possessions go, in the designer stratosphere, my weakness is Chanel. It’s true, the iconic brand, first headed by Coco herself, and these days brought to life by the beyond-words-amazing Karl Lagerfeld is beyond compare.

That being said, how do I relate my love of Chanel to Christmas? Well, other than the fact that if it were possible to receive Chanel items, like jackets, and jewelry, and handbags, they would be the top of my list, Chanel had a surprisingly Christmas-y (to use the term a bit loosely) runway show for the fall/winter season of 2010/2011.

If you haven’t watched this show yet, I encourage you to. It’s great. From the makeup, to the clothes, to the giant glaciers they had flown in for the show (yes, that’s luxury at its finest), everything is perfect. Here’s a few excerpts in case you don’t want to watch the whole show.

(The red in the tweed qualifies as a Christmas color, and if you look at all the fur it’s kind of like polar bears… They’re synonymous with Christmas right?)

Hope you like the show… Oh, and I made it! It’s still Friday!

Modern Vintage

Welcome to Throwback Thursday, the day I myself have been anticipating for a while now. This may be due to the fact that I’m a little bit stuck in the 50’s, to put it lightly. I try to dress up, even if I’m only going to the grocery store, I’m a bit obsessive compulsive about details, and I love, love, love red lipstick!

So this day is a treat for me. I get to put on my red lipstick and wear a Betty Draper-esque shirt with some skinny jeans and mary-jane heels. Hence, modern vintage, because we all know that jeans weren’t exactly the norm for women back then. Anyways, I hope you like these pictures. The laundry background is inspired by the housewife image of the 50’s.

Yes, I know my arm is cut off in this one. But I don’t care, I like it.

Glasses: Versace

Earrings, Clutch, & Top: Banana Republic

Jeans: American Rag at Macy’s

Shoes: Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s

Now, I’m off to do some art. Hooray! Here’s your song:

I’m currently in a Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra phase. How about you?

Here Goes…

Well, it would seem that today is the day. Today is the day that I’m starting my strict blogging regime much like many have probably started their post Thanksgiving diets. I hope, though, that the comparison ends there because those types of things usually don’t last. Anyways, today is the first High Fashion Friday, and I have to say I had some trouble figuring out where to start. However, I had a revelation.

Something that has always fascinated me is the luxury of designer items. Everything is detailed and well thought out, and especially well made. That being said, I can’t really afford the things I want from designers most of the time.

However, this is the holiday season. This is the time of year where we let our wish lists grow long with items we know may never appear under our Christmas trees… But I mean, if Santa were real, it would be a great surprise to find all those things, right?

Therefore, I will tell you today about the slightly ridiculous, and way too expensive, designer item I will never cease to want.

Any guesses?

Okay, so ever since my eyes first met with a designer bicycle in the Fendi store in Caesar’s Palace, I could not help but obsess over every designer bike since. I especially wanted the Missoni for Target bike, but that sold out faster than one can blink. Before I bore you with why I love them so much (honestly I’m not really sure being that I’m not even an avid biker), I’ll just show you pictures so you can see for yourself.

And my personal favorite:

Chanel makes everything better, am I right?

Yes, these are all ridiculously expensive, but if I had that kind of money to burn I wouldn’t think twice. The top of my “it’s never going to happen” Christmas wishlist. Actually, it might be the second.

Now, here are the songs for you:

The Designer Bicycle Playlist

1. Bicycle Race – Queen

2. Bike – Pink Floyd

(This one has holiday resonance because it mentions gingerbread men.)

3. Handlebars – Flobot

(I had to. Sorry.)

4.  Black Hole – She & Him

5 1/4. Bicycle Song – Red Hot Chili Peppers

Yellow

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve gotten to do some fun makeup like this… So I hope you like it.

All these pictures were inspired by the song ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay. I heard it at work yesterday, and remembered how much I loved it. It inspired me to create this look.

Cardigan: Forever 21

Shorts: Banana Republic

Tights: Alloy

Shoes: Alice & Olivia for Payless Shoesource

Dinosaur: Grillgum Spikemonicus Noobisaur

Okay, well, here comes the playlist:

The Yellow List

1. Yellow – Coldplay

2. Yellow Sun – The Raconteurs

3. Yellow Submarine – The Beatles

4. Old Yellow Bricks – Arctic Monkeys

5 1/4. Daylight – Matt & Kim

Yep, yep, yep. Have a great day everyone! Sorry this post wasn’t a wealth of information. I promise the next one will be more text based, or something. Anyways, good night and thanks for reading.

Happy Zelda Day!

Hello people. Sorry this post is so late today, but I’ve spent my day reveling in the glory of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. It came out today, if you didn’t know. I love it!

Anyways, I couldn’t help going out and buying the game in the special edition package which comes with a CD and a beautiful gold Wii motion plus controller. This is funny because I haven’t even finished Twilight Princess yet, but I digress.

So here is the photoshoot that I did in honor of today. I hope you like it. I have to tell you it was so fun taking these pictures. I know swords aren’t toys, but it was really fun acting like I knew what I was doing.

Shoes: Diane Von Furstenburg

Tights: H&M

Skirt: Zara

Shirt: Lifetime Collective

Jacket: Forever 21

Scarf: (QVC I think, my brother gave it to me.)

Well, here is your song of the day. It is a Zelda themed rap by some great youtubers you probably have all heard of: Smosh!

Doll Face?

The irony about photographs is that you don’t always know what was happening to the person in them.

For example, if I didn’t tell you, you would never know that I was laughing at the fact that my photographer had just said the last picture was ‘gross.’ I really wasn’t offended, I honestly just found it funny, and this is the result. My point is, pictures are more about what you see in them than what is really going on. So, what do you see in my pictures? I’m curious, because what we see in something says a lot about who we are too. Anyways, sorry to get all philosophical on you, I just didn’t know what to post today so I thought I’d share that story and some thoughts.

Here are the picture details:

Earmuffs: Forever 21

Dress: Zara

Eyeliner: Make Up Forever #92 (The Famous Purple! It’s an eyeshadow, by the way.)

Lips: Combination of MAC Candy Yum-Yum Lipstick (That’s a really annoying name, by the way.), Lancome Le Rouge Absolu in SatinFuschia, MAC True Babe lipglass, and MAC Reflects Very Pink Glitter

Okay, so I’ll leave you with the song that was stuck in my head this morning. I went through perhaps the craziest and longest phase thus far listening to this band’s two CD’s. Literally, I would listen to the CD’s on repeat throughout the day, and this went on for about a month. Hence, even though I’m out of the phase, sometimes I still get a random phrase of one of their songs in my head, and I have to listen to it. That was the case this morning.

Are You Brit Enough?

I’m a bit of an anglophile, truth be told. I love the accent, probably like any other American girl, but it’s more than that. After all, we were once a part of their world, that is before we became the rebel country. Anyways, the British do things right. They dress well *ahem Burberry* and they make some incredible music. The point of me saying all of this is that I love the quintessential British trench-coat.

This brings us back to Burberry. Right now, with Christopher Bailey at the helm, the Burberry ship is sailing straight to the top of my favorite designers list. Oh my goodness, I just cannot get enough of their beautiful fashion. For men and women, you just can’t go wrong with Burberry (especially the Prorsum line).

So, without further ado, I will be showing you my photos of the Brit look. This trench-coat was on sale at the Burberry store, and since it is my favorite color I couldn’t really resist. (I was already planning on buying a coat there, anyway.) The point is, I love this coat, and the color combo in these pictures is one of my favorites. So here are a bunch of pictures:

I love that my hair is completely in my face in this one.

Hat: Vintage

Earrings and Black Bracelet: Old Navy

Dress and Tights: H&M

Trench: Burberry

Bangles: Forever 21

Shoes: Guess

Alright, so here it goes: My quintessential Brit playlist just to finish it all off.

Brit List

(I tried to keep this balanced between old and new, classic and obscure. Enjoy.)

The Cure – Pictures of You

(Robert Smith’s voice is so perfectly recognizable.)

You Me At Six – Jealous Minds Think Alike

Oasis – Wonderwall

(Too classic! I had to put it on here.)

Arctic Monkeys – Suck It And See

(A great example of how British sayings don’t always make sense to Americans. This song is not dirty.)

The Rolling Stones – Paint It Black

Los Campesinos! – The Sea Is A Good Place To Think Of The Future

The Beatles – Eleanor Rigby

Last Shadow Puppets – Separate And Ever Deadly

(If you’re not convinced by the way Miles sings “I didn’t hear,” then you’ll know their British when you hear them sing “butter and crumbs.”)

The Who – Pinball Wizard

The Vaccines – All In White

The Smiths – This Charming Man

(How can you have a British playlist without Morissey? Another completely recognizable voice!)

Bat For Lashes – Daniel

Muse – Escape

(That’s all for now. If you want more Brit music lists, let me know.)
